Biography

Katie joined the Counseling department in the summer of 2025, prior she was a adjunct instructor for Antioch University. Katie is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Washington, a state approved clinical supervisor and owns a small private practice. Katie has worked in multiple settings, including community mental health, non-profit organizations, groups practices, schools, and private practices. Katie brings experience working with family systems, children and adolescents, and couples. Katie’s therapeutic approach integrates family systems and attachment theory. She integrates solution-focused narrative strategies, along with ACT and DBT in her practice. Her specialties include children, teens, LGBTQIA+, parents with young children, ADHD/ASD in family, and trauma. Katie is a Child Mental Health Specialist and is engaged in research aimed at supporting families with neurodivergence. She is currently exploring how to most effectively teach leadership skills in higher education as well as professional sustainability and preparing students to be socially just and culturally responsive clinicians. Katie is a board member of the Washington Mental Health Counselors Association (WMHCA) and serves on committees providing members opportunities to continue their education and professional development as well as advocate on crucial state legislation for policy change and improvement in the field. Katie lives in Marysville, WA with her partner and two young children.
